When alkyl naphthalans AN are added to Class II, Class III, and PAO base oils, heat resistance, thermal oxidation stability, solubility, dispersion, additive sensitivity, paint film control, rubber phase solubility, volatility, and hydrolytic stability of oils are improved, and the service life of these high-performance lubricants are extneded.
Turbine oils formulated with alkyl naphthalans were evaluated using ASTM D943 method, and the service life was significantly extended compared to those formulated with ester oils.
Based on ASTM D6186 PDSC test method, the thermal oxidation stability of NA-LUBE CR-008 with 10% alkyl naphthalene in combination with PAO 6 was significantly improved due to the synergistic effect between alkyl naphthalene ANs and amine antioxidants.( The excellent thermal oxidation stability of alkyl naphthalans is due to its electron-rich naphthalene rings, which can absorb, resonate, and disperse energy, acting like antioxidants)
